You have now decided that you want to build a business online, however you realize that you will need customers, clients or leads depending on your business. The big question is what to do next, where do you focus your time?
If you are one of the 1000's of people who build a home based business while you still have a slave camp job then time is of the essence. There are many, many people and events wanting your time. You MUST decide what is the most critical for your success and concentrate in those areas.
People with goals succeed because they know where they are going … it's as simple as that. Earl Nightingale
Here are 2 things you can do to assist you in knowing where to concentrate …
Review how you spend your time. Figure out where you spend your internet time and how much time you are spending in each area. It adds up, I know that I have scheduled to spend 15 minutes in Facebook and when I look up 30 minutes have gone by. It happens to everyone. (a timer is a really good idea) Carefully take a look at just where you spend your time and calculate what kind of return you are receiving. Return is not just dollars, with social media also take into consideration new relationships.
A man who dares to waste one hour of life has not discovered the value of life. Charles Darwin
Automate where you can and what makes sense for you. I use a couple of different programs and I highly recommend being very careful. When you take a look at someone's Twitter feed you can tell if they are really there paying attention or it is all automated. Personally I unfollow those ones. In the beginning I used to have an automatic direct message, but I annoyed lots of people with it and I stopped. Remember it is about creating relationships not a race to get more followers and friends.
The first rule of any technology used in a business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency. The second is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency. Bill Gates
Using social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube is an extremely effective way to find customers, clients and leads on-line. And like everything else it is easy when you are shown how. Incorporating these two ideas will greatly assist you in investing your time in the right areas to ensure your success.
